Static State Preparation
X2F® extrusion systems conduct electrically-generated heat to the molding material, continuously and consistently. Materials are prepared to the precise temperature recommended by the material manufacturer and have no reliance on the movement of the screw to generate mechanical shear pressure and heat. This eliminates the need for continuous motion to prepare materials and frees the manufacturer from the constraints of conventional injection molding.
Insert and Over-Molding
Machine cycle rate can be determined by the needs of the part and not the process. If more work needs to be done by the operator “in-mold,” the X2F® extrusion system is indifferent to the cycle time. The material is held at its precise temperature without causing degradation and can be delivered in 30 seconds or 2 minutes, dependent only on the interface needs for that part.
Multi-Component Part Assemblies
Say goodbye to batch processing, work-in-process inventories, warehousing, and forklift traffic.
X2F® machines are portable enough to allow for cost-effective, small runs of multi-component part assemblies, even when the components are of different weights, materials and colors. By placing multiple X2F machines into an assembly cell (each needing only a wall socket and 90 psi air), an assembler can cycle production of the components on-demand.
The result is no individual component production runs of thousands of units, no material movement and component storage, and no part fit issues with thousands of parts in inventory, just raw material to a billable finished part in less than a minute.
Multi-Port to a Common Mold
For a high-volume application, X2F can be customized into a “part machine” where three X2F extrusion systems (barrel, screw, heater bands and a servo motor) each feed a discrete material to individual cavities on a common mold.
Or maybe an eight-cavity mold of a common part like a closure, which is made in four different colors. With each cavity fed independently by a small X2F® extrusion system, coupled with an optical sorter, colors can be mixed in a single mold cycle and changed on a daily basis to match end product sales.
